Sulphuric Acid

WHAT IS SULPHURIC ACID

Chemical Formula: H2SO4

Sulphuric acid(H2SO4)  is arguably the most widely used and important chemical in the world.

Sulphuric acid is a strong acid made of Hydrogen, Oxygen and Sulphur. It’s chemical formula is H2SO4. It has a strong pungent smell, is extremely corrosive in nature, is also a strong oxidising agent, and reacts readily at high temperatures with many metals, carbon, and other substances. It is also called the oil of vitriol, or hydrogen sulfate, dense, colourless, oily, corrosive liquid; one of the most commercially important of all chemicals.

It is prepared industrially by the reaction of water with sulfur trioxide (see sulfur oxide), which in turn is made by a chemical combination of sulfur dioxide and oxygen either by the contact process or the chamber process. In various concentrations, the acid is used in the manufacture of fertilizers, pigments, dyes, drugs, explosives, detergents, and inorganic salts and acids, as well as in petroleum refining and metallurgical processes.

Produced worldwide in numerous countries, it is the chemical industry’s largest product so far. Because of its close proximity to major base metals smelters in South Korea, Japan, and China, as well as the resulting cheaper freight rates from these destinations when compared to other cfr destinations, India consistently has the lowest prices for sulphuric acid CFR worldwide.

There are many industrial uses for it, including:

  • Fertilizer manufacturing,
  • Gold refining,
  • Dyes and Pigments industry,
  • Chemical manufacturing,
  • Oil Refining,
  • Drug production,
  • Detergents,
  • Explosives,
  • Metal treatment,
  • Batteries,
  • Paper manufacturing,
  • Textiles manufacturing

… and many more.

SNDB India supplies high-quality Sulphuric Acid of various strengths. We supply 98% pure and 70% pure sulphuric acid. 70% of our pure product is a byproduct of other chemical processes, whereas 98% of our product comes from a 100% virgin sulphur process.
