Hydrogen Peroxide is a colourless liquid with the chemical formula H2O2. It is a highly reactive chemicals containing the elements of Hydrogen and Oxygen as illustrated in the below structural formula:-
HO – OH
Hydrogen peroxide was first synthesized in the year 1818. It was achieved through the reaction of barium peroxide and nitric acid. Since then, the synthesis of hydrogen peroxide was improved with hydrochloric acid, followed by the addition of sulfuric acid to precipitate the barium sulfate by-product, and this process was used from the end of the nineteenth century until the middle of the twentieth century. Hydrogen peroxide is the simplest class of Peroxides.
Hydrogen Peroxide decomposed into Water and Oxygen in presence of heat or in presence of numerous substances such as salts of Iron, Copper, Manganese etc. With certain organic compounds, its reacts to form hydroperoxides or peroxides, many of which are used to startup the polymerization reactions.
Hydrogen Peroxide is one of the most common bleaching agents and finds application in Paper and textile industries extensively. Some of the most widely adopted applications for Hydrogen Peroxide are as follows:-
It is used in numerous industrial applications like:-
… and many more.
SNDB Chemicals supplies high quality Industrial Grade Hydrogen Peroxide of varying strengths. We supply Hydrogen peroxide with 35%, 50% and 60% strength. The production of Hydrogen peroxide is based on anthraquinone autoxidation process.
