What is Ferrous sulfate

Ferrous sulfate is an inorganic salt and has the chemical formula FeSO₄. FeSO₄ is also known as the green vitriol of copperas during middle age. It is a bluish-green crystalline powder. It is found naturally in the hydrated state that is turquoise or blue-green solid. It is a water-soluble salt and used as a precursor to getting iron mixtures. Ferrous sulfate tends to gain or lose water molecules to oxides themselves into ferric sulfate. Ferrous sulfate is found naturally in various mineral forms like melanterite and rozenite. While ferro hexahydrite, siderotil, szomolnokite are some rare mineral forms of ferrous sulfate. A chemical reaction of iron with copper sulfate uses to manufacture ferrous sulfate. Or it can be prepared by chemical reaction dilute sulfuric acid and a slight excess of iron. 

Ferrous sulfate is an inorganic compound but has low toxicity that can cause swelling and irritation of the respiratory tract. In solution or pure form, ferrous sulfate ingestion can be fatal and results in diarrhea. It can also cause death by damaging blood vessels.
