Manganese Nitrate is an inorganic chemical compound that is denser than water and ignites on contact with organic matter. Direct exposure to this compound may irritate skin, eyes, and mucous membranes and may be toxic by ingestion. It is helpful to make other chemicals. It has its other name as Manganese dinitrate. It reacts explosively with hydrocarbons (fuels).
Manganese Nitrate is soluble in water. It speeds up burning When heated. It may decompose explosively. It also explodes from heat or contamination. It may also ignite combustibles. Even containers with Manganese Nitrate may explode when heated. It appears as a white crystalline solid. Its most common form is tetrahydrate. This nitrate salt is hygroscopic and soluble in water. The anhydrous nitrate salts with urea explode upon heating.
It has many applications in the agriculture and industries:-
Manganese Nitrate is a weekly acidic solid found in nature. It is non-combustible salt of manganese that has an irritating odor. It is toxic substance. It is readily soluble in tetrahydrofuran, and acetonitrile. It also appears in hexahydrate and tetrahydrate forms.
It is prepared by dissolving manganese oxide in nitric acid or from manganese dioxide and nitrogen dioxide.
